Short: Amiga Audio/Video Multiplayer for OS 5.0 (A working prototype)
Author: TAO chantao@hotmail.com
Uploader: chantao@hotmail.com
Version: 1.1
Type: mus/play
Requires: An accelerated AGA Amiga with minimun 1.5m chip ram and 4m fast ram. It runs better
with maximum chip ram and more fast ram. You will also need MUI3.8 if you want the CD interface
to work.
IMPORTANT
=========
To avoid frustration, excessive use of adrenalin or premature baldness please pay attention to
the following:
- Although it is a working prototype, it is only a multimedia representation of a concept.
- Not all buttons are working. The working buttons are the ones with a click sound when your
place your cursor on top of them.
- to get the CD player working you have to configure OptyCDPlay first (please refer to Installation
section) and indeed it helps if you've actually got a CD rom drive ; ).
- the file requester is only a dummy one which does not allow you to change the preset file.
- You need to run MUI and Rexxmast if you want to run the CD deck.
- The programme will crash if you do not have sufficient chip ram.
Introduction
============
Although Amiga is the first true Multimedia Personal Computer the OS GUI is getting a bit ancient,
very naff and unprofessional for today's standard. With the new OSes on their way I thought it
would be nice to produce an idea of a good looking multiplayer. Hopefully, it will inspire
talented programmers to work towards the concept. In order to put the total idea across I made up
this working prototype. Most of the system is kind of working ;). You can even play audio CD with
it. Thanks to Stéphane Barbaray for his superb OptyCDPlay and its Arrexx port acting as a
background engine.
Installation
============
Decompress and copy the whole archive to wherever you want. Click on the appropriate icon
according to whatever processor your've acquired. When OptyCDPlay is loaded you have to configure
the programme to match up with your setup. The full document of OptyCDPlay is inside the CD directory.
No special assign is required.
Programmers/Developers
======================
Please feel free to adopt the concept and make use of the GFX files. There are some extra graphic
files within this archive. If you are using any material from this archive to develop a programme
please mention my name. Thank you in advance.

Future
======
I don't see any point to make another version of Amideck because it is only a dummy programme,
therefore, the future development of Amideck is entirely in your own capable hands when the
OS5Dev Machine is out. However, if I conceive another idea in the future, I will certainly
construct another prototype and upload it to Aminet.
